Incheon and West Coast Regional Check

A West Coast checklist for large tidal range, tidal flats, routes, and distance reporting

Start with the key point. A West Coast checklist for large tidal range, tidal flats, routes, and distance reporting

Visual guide

Read tide as a curve

Do not read only high and low tide times. Put departure, return, depth margin, wind, and current on the same line.

High tideLow tideDepartReturn
High water does not always mean weak currentAdd more margin if return nears low tideDo not judge rivers, dams, or sluices from a tide table alone

Tide margin matters most

Around Incheon and the West Coast, tidal range, tidal flats, and shallow water can dominate the plan. Check tide level, current, ramp depth, and return time together.

Check sequence

  1. Choose the nearest practical KHOA tide station.
  2. Mark high tide, low tide, and tide level for departure and return.
  3. Avoid tidal flats, sandbars, aquaculture areas, and navigation marks.
  4. If operating 10 NM or more from the departure port, check long-distance reporting.
  5. Check restricted areas and permitted zones.
  6. Check marine forecast, wind, waves, and visibility.
